Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team
Tecumseh United Methodist Church
June 25, 2011
The Tecumseh CERT meeting came to order at 9:00am. Those present were Herb Whitlow, Teresa Hudson, Andrew Watkins, Kevin Smoot, Neva Martin, Willa Norwood, Steve Christenberry, Nancy Rush, Dan and Pat Krug.
Herb passed for members to review, his notebook listing all area captains listing pertinent contact information for each. He proposed that each captain have a similar book to be used in an emergency situation.
It was discussed whether or not to participate in a Night Against Crime in August in the Tecumseh community. It was decided that with such a short planning time that we would aim to holding an event next year.
TCERT’s participation in Heritage Day in September was discussed. The booth needs to have a better location. It needs to be more interesting- needs something eye catching to draw people in. Teresa volunteered to head up a committee to plan a children’s activity.
Steve and Teresa have been in contact with scouting organization to make plans to offer a Preparedness badge for the boys.
CERT training classes will be held at Topeka Bible Church August 5-6 and 12-13. A First Aid unit will be included.
The stoves in TUMC kitchen were moved off the panel run by the generator. They will be moved back in order to be usable when power is off.
The Emergency Exercise at Tecumseh Park will be held October 14-16.
There was discussion about possible plans for tornado shelter for the residents of the trailer park on highway 40. Several suggestions were made and further research will be conducted.
Steve will ask Berryton CERT for interest in helping with the booth at Heritage Day.
Respectfully Submitted,
Nancy Rush
