Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team
Tecumseh United Methodist Church
April 23, 2011
The Tecumseh CERT meeting came to order at 9:00am. Those present were Herb Whitlow, Doris McCune, Mary Ertl, Dan and Pat Krug, Jan Kieffer, Steve Christenberry, Bette Snoddy, Nancy Rush, Neva Martin, Willa Norwood, Teresa and Brad Hudson, David and Linda Brink, Kevin Smoot, Steve Vogel, Cindy Whitsell.
Herb mentioned that the generator only powers the new part of the church building. The stoves need to be switched over to be powered by it.
The TCERT family dinner on April 2 was well attended.
Plans for the CERT booth for Heritage Day were discussed. We have used the trailer several years and need to make some changes. Steve suggested the big fold-out and large banner which was used at a presentation at the mall.
There was discussion regarding the two types of shelters. One is the official Red Cross shelter and the other is a Partner Shelter.
The Shawnee County CERT Exercise will be held at Tecumseh Park on October 14-16.
The Emergency Services Showcase will be held at Garfield Park on May 7.
Steve and Dusty will be meeting with Boy Scout leaders to gain interest in the CERT program and possibly working toward a badge for the boys.
Bette Snoddy was in attendance. She is a member of the Berryton CERT group. They are working on a plan to make a notebook for each area captain. It should include maps, contact information and other basics. These could be a valuable tool when an emergency occurs and an area captain is unavailable.
Mark your calendars for May 21. The meeting will be at Berryton. It will be the Shawnee County CERT meeting. The steering committee will meet at 9:00 and go into regular session at 10:00 and possibly hold a short training session.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy Rush
