Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team Tecumseh United Methodist Church January 19, 2010 – 7:00 p.m.   The meeting was called to order at 7:00pm. Those present were Kenny Ziegler, Nancy Rush, Willa Norwood, Dan and Pat Krug, Herb Whitlow, Kevin Smoot, David and Linda Brink, Neva Martin, Jan Kieffer. Dave Sterbenz, Director of Shawnee County Emergency Management, told of the plan currently in the works to place an unstaffed fire station in Tecumseh. This would be a great benefit to township residents living west and north of Tecumseh. It would not only benefit their safety but also put them closer to a fire station than the one on Shawnee Heights Road and could lower their home insurance rates. Herb is making arrangements for first aid and CPR classes to be held here. He has only four signed up at the present time and needs to more interested participants. Dave gave a very interesting presentation on the Incident Command System. This procedure involves assigning a leader and those in charge of the various aspects in a disaster situation. Dave told of the reenactment of the 1966 tornado which will take place June 8-9. Volunteers will be needed to make this event successful. The next Tecumseh CERT meeting will be February 16, 2010.
