Tecumseh Community Emergency Response Team Tecumseh United Methodist Church November 1, 2008 Monthly Meeting Tecumseh CERT opened the meeting on November 1, 2008 at the Tecumseh United Methodist Church with 7 members present with Herb Whitlow leading the discussion. Herb had received a thank you from the Heritage Day Committee for our participation. The pad for the generator has been poured and the transfer switch has been ordered and it is hoped that it will be installed next week. The generator can then be set on the pad and hooked up. The capacity should be such that it would handle the whole church in case of an emergency. Herb had prepared a sheet identifying ourselves and our purpose when we visit persons in our areas. The sheets are now available. It was suggested that a mailer be sent out telling every one of our plans and how our work has progressed. After much discussion a letter was formed and Linda Brink is going to formalize it and type it up and Xerox copies as soon as Herb and Neva check the letter. This letter will be sent to everyone in the area. We are still in need of Captains for several areas and it is hoped that the letter will generate more interest. We also need a representative from the Shawnee Heights Church. David Brink has agreed to take further training so he will be able to conduct training classes.  Ed Pranker will also be asked to take the extra training and it is hoped he agrees. There is a need for teachers for the training course. It is hoped that sometime after the New Year another training session can be set up and the Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church group will be invited to participate. Those of us who did not get to finish can then finish our course and be certified. It is hoped that the mailer can be sent out this next week. Our next meeting will be on November 22 and we hope to have a guest speaker who speaks about the need for training. The meeting adjourned. Respectfully Submitted by Willa Norwood, Acting Secretary.
