THE TECUMSEH UNITED METHODIST CHURCH COUNCIL

The Administrative Council of Tecumseh United Methodist Church met October 4, 2009 at 7:15pm. Those present were Nelta Hennessey, chairperson, Pastor Josh Gooding, Ernestine Adams, LaVene and Vivian Brenden, Sarah Gooding, Kathy Griffith, Rita Halderman, Steve Hennessey, Jan Kieffer, Pat Krug, Neva Martin, Larry McCammon, Willa Norwood, Nancy Rush Colleen Scott, Carole Stone, Betty Waller.
Nelta led the devotional time with a reading titled “Are You Listening?”

PASTOR’S TIME:
Pastor Josh said that Church Conference will be held Monday, December 14 at University UMC. Our church will be meeting with other area churches for an opening prayer, each sharing a blessing to their church, a brief explanation of plans to reach set goals, and an offering for the Washburn University Campus Ministry. Each church will then meet individually and then gather together again for hymn sing and closing prayer. Evelyn Fisher, District Superintendent feels that this format will encourage connectionalism and give all churches a chance to learn from each other. Evelyn would like each church to bring a specific measurable goal.
Pastor Josh discussed the possibility of combining the Kansas and Nebraska conferences to be served by one bishop. No final decisions have been made as yet.
It was decided that there will be no November Super Sunday Council Meeting as Pastor Josh will be using vacation days at that time. Any committees needing to conduct business will meet.
The minutes of the September meeting were approved as printed.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Larry referred to the printed financial report.
Neva (Evangelism) mentioned the September Open House events. Movie night, hymn sing on Heritage Day, and Fellowship Coffee all took place last month. Sarah is making plans for the Halloween Party and will have a sign up sheet ready soon.
Neva (Health Ministry) was pleased with good attendance at the chicken fixin’ workshop held in September and reminded all of the Make-A-Mix workshop on October 18.
Kathy (Worship) said her committee will meet October 22. Some monies have been received that have been specifically designated to be used for choir music.
Jan (Trustees) said that her committee met and chose the color for the poured epoxy floor in the conference and south rooms. She will contact the floor company tomorrow morning with their choice and work should begin soon.
Pat (Finance) will meet with her committee on October 13 the prepare labels and stewardship letters to go to all church members. It will be requested to return letters in November.
Carole (Congregational Care) announced that visitation will be held October 11.
Rita (Education) thanked Ernestine for stepping in and continuing the adult Sunday School. She also told that the children enjoy the split classes on Sunday mornings even though they both be small.
Pastor Josh closed council meeting with prayer.

Respectfully Submitted,
